Recent research claims that there is a link between gender and organizational performances. While people argue and provide a myriad of reasons why one gender performs better than the other, one important factor to note is that diversity that is properly channelled will always improve general performance. For the FMN Group, diversity is beyond our business scope, it runs across everything we do This is why we explore diverse solutions to everyday problems. The notion “what a man can do, a woman can do better” does not apply to FMN. Rather, what applies is “what a person is equipped for, a person can do better”. This core strategy is geared at empowering, improving and employing local expertise in the discharge of duties. This is evident in our programmes with foreign technical partners for the training of young Nigerians, both male and female. FMN strongly believes that by balancing the scales of equality, both men and women have equal chances to contribute at work, home and the nation as a whole. FMN’s vacancies and promotions are not filled based on any gender prejudices but on its strong core values: Performance, Initiative, Integrity, Leadership, Ownership and Teamwork (PIILOT). We believe when employees are happy at their jobs, work becomes profitable and life becomes more fulfilling. In line with our vision of strengthening skill development across both genders, FMN is set to launch a leadership academy that provides robust curriculums for every role in the organization. This is intended to provide learning opportunities for every employee while also empowering local hands to engender local growth. FMN understands that since women put more hours into household activities than men, it is unrealistic to expect women at the workplace every day of the week. In order to balance this, FMN has a range of flexible SME opportunities for women across Nigeria which will require less time but will yield inestimable dividends. From start to finish, FMN is committed to creating value across the Nigerian economic sphere through its farms, factories, and a host of other investments. Moreover, through its dedicated human resource initiatives, it is creating jobs and better lives for over 12,000 direct employees, 5,000 farmers and many SMEs across Nigeria.
